An extra set of eyes

After decluttering my cube last week I came across a spare set of glasses. They’re from an older prescription and still look in good shape. I’m typing this while wearing them which is turning into a mistake. Since I started with them on, I’ll finish with them on.

I’m farsighted so things up close are blurry. My current prescription allows me to read up to an arm’s length away without having to take them off. The pair I found are only good for ~9 inches leaving me crouched further into my screen for non-fuzziness. I’m not taking them off till I’m done!!

The glasses and case (complete with a cleaning rag and some cobwebs) are going home tonight along with other chotchkies that I’m tired of looking at. A couple of Father’s Day cards, a battery powered mini Fender amp, a really cool beer can wrapped alligator gift my kids gave me, among other non-descript books. All of which will find a nice home in my studio.

I wasn’t kidding. (Credit: Me)

I can’t believe how tight the temples are on these goddamn glasses! Taking the time to adjust them isn’t worth the effort. Either my head got fatter or these were adjusted incorrectly. They keep slipping down my nose a bit but that’s not totally unusual with my current pair.

It is possible to have all 4 at once? Yes. Wearing glasses that aren’t your prescription can be the cause. (Credit: http://howtorelief.com/headache-types-causes-medication/)

The beginning of a headache thanks to eye strain is setting in. I’m having to lean in a bit close and I’m dangerously close to doing a crunch…exercising sucks. I can tell that pain relievers are in my very near future yet I’m too stubborn to take them off. I might as well get my money’s worth.

My employer has pretty good health insurance that includes a vision plan. We can get an eye exam for free and a new pair of specs every other year for little to no charge. I’m grateful for this as my wife and daughters are under my insurance and they all wear glasses. All of them are smarter than me and wouldn’t try to do something this stupid.

I’m cutting it off here. I’ve been writing this post (including a bit of editing) for about 12 minutes and I’m now getting irritable AF. The moral of this story is keep your cube clean and don’t hang on to things that you know are bad for you. In about 12 seconds these glasses are going to get a flying lesson.

Thanks for reading all of this and I appreciate you stopping by. If you enjoyed this piece please click the applause hands below and comment if you wish. I’d love to hear your experiences no matter what they may be. Also, I have two books available on Amazon that I advocate you to buy, Manku and Manku Too.
